Scaling the hills of Montmartre, shopping till you drop in the Grands Magasins, taking in endless museums? When your stay in the City of Light gets a little tiring, what better way to unwind than with a visit to a spa or hammam? Don't miss these wellness destinations from The MICHELIN Guide hotel selection.

MGallery Molitor, Spa by Clarins

Molitor's Art Deco swimming pool, nicknamed 'the white cruise liner', was inaugurated in 1929 and welcomed bathers for decades. After closing in 1989, the pool became a haven for Parisian street artists, and was later turned into a luxury hotel and chic seaside resort, designed by architect Jean-Philippe Nuel. The Accor group now operates the hotel under the MGallery brand. The Clarins Spa within the hotel complex is an oasis of calm in the city, presenting a wide range of made-to-measure treatments, including soothing, beauty or sports massages, endermologie, and cryotherapy. To round off the experience, head to the hammam, sauna, and sensory shower. Access to the two historic swimming pools (one indoor, one outdoor) is included.

Nolinski Paris, Spa Nolinski by La Colline

On the prestigious Avenue de l'Opéra, just a stone's throw from the Comédie Française, this exceptionally elegant hotel is a perfect blend of contemporary aesthetics and French art de vivre. Interior designer Jean-Louis Deniot has combined premium materials and iconic pieces, deploying subtle lighting effects to show them off to their best advantage. The same captivating atmosphere reigns in the spa, where a marriage of granite and wood paneling sets the tone. The various treatments are designed by La Colline, a Swiss-based cosmetics laboratory with a focus on nature and biotechnology. From anti-aging facials and collagen masks to personalized massages, there are plenty of rituals to choose from. There's also a lap pool and hammam, plus the option to sign up for a fitness session with a coach.

Saint James Paris, Spa Guerlain

Tucked away behind high walls, in a château set in magnificent grounds in the 16th arrondissement, this hotel is bound to surprise. The interior décor— as opulent as it is imposing— has been updated by architect Laura Gonzalez, who has given it a vigorous facelift without sacrificing any of its character. Along with sumptuous guestrooms and the wonderful MICHELIN-Starred Bellefeuille restaurant, the establishment is home to a Guerlain Spa: a 400 square meter wellness center that extends over two floors. Boasting an indoor swimming pool, hammam, and sauna, it offers an extensive range of treatments, from anti-aging facials to bespoke massages. This is also a great opportunity to (re)discover Guerlain's fragrances, skincare products, and make-up.

Sinner Paris, Ablutio Spa by La Colline

Set deep in the heart of Paris's historic (and now ultra trendy) Le Marais area, Sinner is popular with a very arty clientele who are as discerning when it comes to comfort as they are drawn to originality. Here, the EVOK group called on interior architect Tristan Auer to create an offbeat and intriguing atmosphere, rife with references to the sacred. Each guestroom constitutes a delightful retreat, while in the bar and restaurant you can rub shoulders with other guests over exotic dishes or cocktails infused with influences and ingredients from afar. In an almost monastic ambience, the spa offers a comprehensive menu of La Colline treatments: deep hydrating facials to help restore your skin's suppleness, restorative face and back treatments by candlelight — you're spoilt for choice. Recharge your batteries in the pool and hammam before returning to the frenetic pace of city life.

La Réserve Paris, Spa Nescens

An intimate hotel set between Avenue Montaigne and Faubourg Saint-Honoré, La Réserve Paris lavishes its patrons with the VIP treatment. The highly refined, Jacques Garcia-designed interior is decorated in a classical vein, elevating the large volume of Haussmann architecture with wood paneling, mouldings, and plush fabrics. Jérôme Banctel's exquisite restaurant, Le Gabriel, is also a masterclass in 'savoir-vivre'. The spa, meanwhile, focuses on restoring that youthful glow with its Nescens-Swiss anti-aging products for both face and body. Exclusively available here, these innovative cosmetics and treatments for both men and women are used for massages, pedicures, and manicures. There is also a fabulous 16m indoor swimming pool and a hammam, reserved for hotel guests only.

Cheval Blanc Paris, Dior Spa Cheval Blanc Paris

Housed on the upper floors of the La Samaritaine department store building, which is graced with a flamboyant Art Deco extension by Henri Sauvage, Cheval Blanc has become a mainstay on Paris's luxury hotel scene. Staying in one of the 72 rooms and suites overlooking the Seine is invariably an unforgettable experience. The hotel also boasts several exceptional restaurants, including Arnaud Donckele's Three MICHELIN StarredPlénitude. As for the Dior Spa, it merits a visit in its own right on account of the gamut of cutting-edge treatments available: tissue-sculpting massages, micro-abrasion with sapphire crystals, Hydrafacial, and sensory awakenings, to name a few. The pampering experience continues with the large indoor swimming pool, which commands views over Paris, and the hammam and sauna, which is just the thing for boosting energy and restoring serenity.

Cheval Blanc Paris

Nobody could accuse this legendary hotel, open since 1898, of being a one-trick pony: gorgeous guestrooms that perpetuate a classically French art de vivre; a huge garden, providing a buffer of greenery between you and the bustling city; Espadon, an exceptional restaurant with Chef Eugénie Béziat at the helm; an iconic cocktail bar where every socialite dreams of raising a glass; and an exceptionally vast spa offering unrivaled services. Dispensed in rooms named after the favorite flowers of illustrious guests, e.g. Zelda Fitzgerald's 'Orchid', Ingrid Bergman's 'Rose', the treatments for body and face include an array of massages (with acupressure techniques), smoothing or purifying facials, and manicures. The floral oils and serums have been specially formulated for the hotel. After this interlude of self-care, it's hard to resist the sublime, Ritz blue-tiled swimming pool.
